Great learning! Thank you for sharing .. I would like to get the report
Great VID! Very informative and inspiring… wheels are already turning…I am in the process of creating my lifestyle business(es)… I would love a chance to read your case study. Please email me!
Not sure how clever my comment is – but I can’t thank you enough for the info you have made available. Quite by accident recently, I had a friend start telling me about an enormous pain point with his business and immediately the wheels in my head started to turn.
I’ve been digging into the idea and working the action steps you lay out to devise a software product that will solve this problem. The target market is huge, the recurring monthly subsctiption model is very natural, and I’ve floated the idea to other industry pros to confirm that there is real pain. It’s so bad, they most of them are at a point they have just completely accepted the drudgery they endure as necessary and inevitable.
I have a long way to go in this journey, but I want to express sincere gratitude for the vision and example you have provided – both about business and financial freedom, but more importantly about learning to believe in myself and ignoring the negative thoughts (thinking about the “leaked” private call you shared).
Cheers
It was no accident
Awesome video!
This seems like a no brainer – Ask people what they want and then build it for them (with a few nuggets about how to do that effectively). Definitely telling people about this video.
Could you send me the report, please? I know that’s a boring way to say it but there are so many comments on there it’s tough to come up with anything original
Great insights! It’s awesome to hear the detailed back story of your success. I especially loved the 7 elements of a successful software product.
I would love to learn more from the report! Let me know how I can get a copy. Thanks!
What a great video. Please send me the Case Study.
Wow I’ve learned so much from this video! Thank you so much. Can I please get the report?
So you want a great comment…funny, huh?
Let’s see.
First off…great info. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can…do this.
Now for the funny…
Abraham was a good ‘ol man…no, no…what. Can’t say that… Their once was a guy from Nantucket…opps…no good their too.
I guess I let all of the “funny” out of the box and I’m left with dirty jokes.
Anyway…hook a brotha up, yo! I’ll put you in my Manga (Comic)…
Dane, hook me up with the case study and all the info you mentioned in this video. I found you only 2 days ago, but this video already spear-headed a new business idea to take me deep into my passion for writing. I am excited to watch everything (in between getting this off the ground). Thanks bro!
now blown is my mind. seven elements did it. please send the report.
now blown is my mind. the seven elements did it. please send the report.
You really sheared all this for free, I mean… REALLY??? This information is AWSEMOME!!! Hold down, let me pintch myself… Aww!
I don’t know if I should ask for more but I would love the transcript.
Dane great video. I was hoping for more of a walkthrough around the back end of the sites, but what you presented was still awesome. Please send the elements report and other freebees so I can knock it outta the park. Thanks
Very interesting stuff regarding software businesses online. Look forward to the study.
Watching this video just allowed me to find the most simplistic solution to a problem that I thought could never be solved. I can’t thank you enough for helping me clear my head.
Hi Dane I’d love to get a copy of the case study you mentioned
I sent an email, but just in case they don’t get it, I read in the swipe file report that I could ask a question here. I really appreciate the help you guys are offering.
How does Dane get the people he interviews by audio to agree to do the interview? As in what’s in it for them? Does he just ask and they say okay with no strings attached? Or did he offer them something? If so, what? Thank you.
It’s definitely good to get the creative gears spinning at a higher RPM.
My takeaway was the 7 elements (especially the last two) and use that as a quick checklist/sanity check when evaluating a software business idea. I would still like to get the additional info/report as well! Thanks, Dane!
Hey there, these videos you’re making Dane is really inspiring me thanks dude.
And yes, I would love to get this report lol.
Great stuff Dane! I wish I had come into this material soon, now I have to wait until Oct for the next Foundation.
My greatest takeaway comes from elements 6 and 7, and this is where you can gain the most insight. But if course, there is an interrelation between then all, and you have to find the balance within our product and your niche. Another great takeaway for me is selling the tools and shovels rather than digging for the gold itself.
Great stuff, keep it up!
Really eye opening… I think I am starting to catch on.
That was a very interesting video. I always thought you needed to focus on running one business at the time. But you are actually going from one business to the other while still making income off of it. Well I already took notes and going to read those notes again tomorrow to solidify my mindset.
Oh and I would like a copy of the transcript . Take care,
Hiya, g’morning and please send the transcript. Mind= blown just by the idea that I don’t have to have an idea or know about an industry AT ALL. How refreshing! Problem solving with the unknown problems and unknown solutions….if that isn’t an adventure, I don’t know what is. High 5! xow
Do YOU make these mistakes in entrepreneurship?
Hey, I learned so much that the wheels in my head are spinning. But the takeaway that revved my engine the most was the declaration that the more you study copywriting, the more abundant your life becomes.
So… send those promised goodies right now… OR THE BUNNY GETS IT!
P.S. It’s an astonishingly cute bunny.
Hey foundation friends, Guess what, This is a new year and I’m ready to get on the path to making more money utilizing my new mindsets, I posted to this thread discussing what I learned and shared a the link on Facebook. Actually, I created the Facebook accout just to do this. However I still feel heldback b/c I still have sooo much pain in my life without the 7 elements report. If only there was a swipe file of emails and links to the interviews that could save me….. Oh, The Foundation has these answers and tools for me, Dane and Foundation crew, would you please send me this material. Happy new year everyone. Mdstallard@gmail.com

Thanks for sharing these stuff. The information itself is already GOLD! Thank you for your generosity. I am wanting also to create a business that will help people solve their problems at the same time help change the world. Thank you also for the report.
Dane Maxwell, first off thanks so much for your transparency and vulnerability. It’s inspirational to see someone with your level of success continure to wear their heart on their sleeve and be so willing to help others reach their goals….so thank you. Also, would love to have those transcripts!
Awesome, Its a good feeling knowing that someone has gone before you and then wants to see others acheive just as much. I learned that its not extremely difficult to outsource these projects, just a little research. If you don’t mind Dane would you please email the info behind this presentation? mdstallard@gmail.com
Great video, Dane! Can I get a copy of that seven elements report?
I’m so happy that I’ve found this site. You are true that the mindset is everything, and the sooner we learn that is better – we save a lot of money on psychoterapy by not living in fear. BTW – maybe you should recruit someone to work for you at RecruitingNinja so you don’t have to do it by yourself. I can imagine it would be less then you earn from the site, right?
I would also like the raport you mentioned if it’s not a problem? And please – keep up the good work with Foundation. Regards
Hello Dane Maxwell – I learned a great deal from your video and really appreciate the transparency as well. I am so mad for not thinking of the idea of ‘finding the pain’ until you have brought to light so well. And now that I know this along with having the right mindset… well, let’s just say that now I feel like I can leap tall buildings! Thanks Dane!
Shut up and take my Like!
Great stuff as always Dane….listening to this speaks volumes in some many ways…listening to you is like hearing my inner thoughts said aloud… you really bring home the bacon in more ways than one in this video….and knowing you are part of our mixergy family is great….you always come from the HEART….is the greatest gift ever….if you ever need my help I’m here to serve…..
I can’t even remember how I found your videos Dane, but these are amazing! I’m sitting here watching these and having “aha” moments left and right. You make this stuff sound so simple and in a way, it is – after all, it seems that asking your potential customers what kind of product they would want to use would seem like common sense, but it’s interesting how so few of us actually take that approach.
You’re making a believer out of me!
Awesome video Dane, thanks a million for your generous insights and inspiration!
Your blowing my mind Dane. I’m addicted to your videos and teaching. I’ve been forwarding your content to everyone I know. Can’t wait for the next video
Fantastic video, Dane! It’s a very different approach than most people take when creating a product or service. As a software developer myself solving the pain makes much more sense than creating another product. The report, email and intervviews would certainly help me get my $500K business going. Looking forward to getting them. Thanks!
I learn best through analogies. So when thinking back the image that sticks out to me is….
“be the one selling the shovels not the one panning for gold”.
Easy to understand concept expressed in a very visual way.
and ummmm
(looking around suspiciously) could I….get that report maybe?
This dude gets …. Find a problem…. Sell the solution, THEN build the solution
Extremely interesting take on using old school sales techniques like finding the pain to develop a product rather than try to fit the clients pain to an exisitng product.
Thanks for the great video Dane, almost didn’t recognize your voice without the chewing sounds after listening to an interview of yours today that you were eating during Can’t have been too bad, because here I am listening to you again. Thanks again, great content.
Thanks for all your insight and info. To say The Foundation changes business in my mind is an understatement. I’ve set a ton of cash on fire in an attempt to build a business; over 70k. Now I am driven to ask questions to people that lead me to help solve their problems and create an ongoing revenue stream in the process. Thanks for all the info….I want more.
Please send me the case study.
Transparency, what a concept. Honesty, what a concept. Customer centric focus, what a concept. Tony Hseia at Zappos would be proud of you…actually he probably is proud of you…giving mindset…you can’t stop those seeds of generosity from coming back 10x and more once they get into momentum. thanks Zane
Its not every day you get to see the inner workings of an companies systems and tactics. I greatly admire that you are devoting your time to the foundation and helping others and made the choice to delegate and walk away from devoting the larger amount of your time to the other businesses. I cant wait to watch the next video and look forward to getting my own software company started in the near future.
Thanks Dane! Fantastic video. I appreciate the report.
Awesome information
Wow…as most, wish I seen this years and thou$ands earlier. That one question around pain, made me examine if my current products solve a deep enough pain…sadly no. Regardless, I’ve never felt more focused, so simply, on how to achieve the freedom I want. Thanks for sharing Dane! If I could get the swipe files that would be even better. All the best.
Dane, I have been watching your videos, reading your emails, and this is over the top. Your value output is incredible–give, give, and give. Thank you for your service and respect. You make a difference in this world and it’s economies.
This was amazing! I can’t wait to see the repot!
Came here from Smart Passive Income interview. Amazing stuff, but in a way common sense. Makes one wonder how the world operates when 90+% are at the nubie level. I am included in that level. though I have some shades of minor league, a have a bit to go. Yes, may I get a copy of the report. Off to the next video.
The great information continues! I’m continually needing to be reminded that my mindset is the determining factor in my success in all of this.
Shared on facebook, now please… send me the report.
In exchange, I promise to not come to your house completely nude. That’s an offer you can take to the bank (they might laugh at you for it, but you can take it there.)
Did you apply?
Unfortunately no – I actually didn’t find out about it until it was already launched. Came here after listening to a Pat Flynn’s Smart Passive Income podcast.
Awesome stuff, actually seeing behind the scenes seems to be the number one way I’ve found to blast away my scarcity mentality and limiting beliefs. I first found this with the Appsumo blueprint products and this ticks the same boxes for me.
Please hit me up with the 7 elements report.

You could really be charging a fair few dollars for this series – but I guess this is an example of the information marketing you speak about in action.
Dane and Deon,
Thanks for the video. I’m going over the videos with a couple of other guys. We won’t get into the Foundation, but we’re going to work through the materials here together, sorta like the FoundationX (independently organized Foundation .
Amazing journey to come.
PS: Deon, I just email dane@thefoundation.io requesting the swipe file. Thanks in advance.
I don’t have a Facebook, but would love the case study. Can I HAZ it? I will printout out and MANUALLY share it with proof! Email to ndunewsletters (at) gmail
Lots of great information here. The advice to find and get trained by experts is very helpful for people who want to accomplish great things. It’s easier than ever before to locate experts in your field. I still find a lot of people who are scared to reach out. There is an expert in just about every niche you can imagine and you can find their contact information online quite easily. The only thing that’s stopping you is you.
Great video. Thanks for sharing details. I got a lot of value from this
As always your transparency is worth gold! This is how we should all think about running our projects and ideas. Thanks again…look forward to the reports. Great video!
Ridiculous! Honestly. And I love it.
I have had this theory for a while: Giving is nice, but… It is so easy. Just give away what you have. In order to give however, you have to be able to accept the fact that you’re worthy of all the goodness of life and the abundance it can offer. That is the tough part, acceptance! Which leads back to the mindset. And as crazy as it sounds it was the missing link in my life. The mindset. Awesome
Boy, I would love to see those reports. You also mention the transcript. is that included too? Just need them to get my ongoing seismic mindset shift explode. Thanks
Ok, I think during the first time through I forgot to mention that I would like the transcript. Well here’s making up for it.
Could I please have the transcript? Thanks. I have also been reading the comments below and will send the request to the email address.
Awesome video Dane. I love the tips on building a customer list and staying in contact. The 7 elements checklist is gold. I would appreciate it if you could send the 7 elements case study. Thanks!
Dane, You are so inspiring and encouraging and you make me feel like I can actually start up my own successful software company. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences!!
Hey Dane! Thanks for the great videos! I’ve already sent my email requesting the 7 Elements Please! and I’ve already shared on FB! I’ve been thinking along this mindset for some time — solve the pain — BUT the simplicity of what you are saying! and some of the other bs that we worry about when starting a business! Thanks for opening my eyes.
has anyone’s head actually exploded from listening to too many of your videos over too short of a time? if you think the danger is remote, please, please send more — the report, the videos, the big pdf swipe file! THE WORKS!
if you think there is danger and that head explosion is imminent, let me know that and I’ll video so you’ll know the exact point when it was just too much to take! THANKS!
Great. Find the pain. Make sure it is critical to the businesses success. Market by educating business owners about this pain, giving (manual) solutions. Offer your (automated) solution.
Please send me the Case Study. Thanks.
This is amazing stuff! Consider my head completely blown. Please, please, puh-leeeeze send me the case study! And can you tell me more about a Level 3 or 4 idea? Does that refer to how much probing went into finding the pain, and how many questions were asked as you probed a specific topic? I’m very curious about your differentiation (<–look, a teacher nerd word, cause that's what I am!) between depth of pain/ideas. Domo arigatou, Mr. Roboto!
This is really one of the best videos on the web – would love to read the 7 elements report.
Dig this. And it’s YOUR product! something to be proud of!
Thank you Dane, you’ve shared so much value, it’s incredible!
The 7 elements make allot sense. Finding Pain. That is so key.Thank you. Keep them videos coming!
(btw I’d like to request the check list, cheers).
Truly an amazing video, inspiring and intriguing, it has just gone against all the things I was previously doing with my new business start up. Some wonderful ideas on how to really do business by solving a customers pain or problem by asking questions and then creating a solution. Makes all good sense and is the way to conduct business. Great Dane looking forward to receiving the case study.
The thing I learned is more an attitude change and not a specific tidbit of information. It’s like a switched got flipped! Thank you! Please send the info.. and I will devour it appropriately…
Hey Dane, Fantastic stuff. Your products are much better than the toy apps I started out trying to develop. They ease pain: something real, for the seller and the buyer. Thanks for the inspiration. Hope to be a part of the next Foundation! John
Hi Dane! Would definitely like to have a copy of that case study! What stood out to me are two quotes: “Find the pain and then solve it!” – Reiterating the realization that a successufl entrepreneur is in reality, a problem solver. “Freedom comes to mindset.” – Your videos should be common sense but because of limiting mindsets, we (entrepreneurs) need to hear it to change. You’ve definitely brought a lot of “ah ha” moments in just the week that I’ve found out about your site. Thanks for everything you’re doing!
You guys put a lot of time and thought into this. Mega high-fives. I swipe all my friend’s copy…….would love your transcripts. Yes, please. <3 <3 <3.
Hi Dane, Thanks for the great video. I am a college student about to graduate soon and you video offers really interesting insight on how people can create something of value without much resource. Thanks for sharing your lessons and I would like to get the report and emails you used. Thank you.
Dane, this was so insightful and helpful. You’ve certainly called me out on the ways I use time, money, and skills to stall on my way to creating a business. I appreciate all the videos and content, great value!
I could learn through failure. Or, I could learn by following this advice. I think I’ll choose the latter.
Great video! Your transparency about your businesses was a rare treat!
Another rocktastic video Dane! This is one of the coolest things a business owner has ever offered to the public. There is enough content in this video alone to warrant you immediate professor status at any university across the country! My biggest takeaway was when you discussed raising your price on the Recruiting Ninja. I really began understanding that when you raised the price you added extra content and value simply by creating ways for brokers to get around actually doing any creative work themselves. Basically, you played off the brokers laziness/lack of free time by creating them a really handy check list and script emails and other content. This is an awesome example of using your strengths and playing to their weaknesses. Kudos!
Oh yeah, give me yo stuff homie!
Thanks for the great videos Dane!
Amazing to see behind the scenes. I’ll have to play this back on slow-mo, cuz now I’m dizzy. Very interesting to learn that webinars are more successful for converting sales. Although you didn’t go into this, it makes perfect sense as a great way to personalize the sales pitch and appear less like spam. Can’t wait to learn more about this.
Yes! please…I’d love the report and swipe file of emails you’ve offered.
Hey Dane
I’m so glad I came across The Foundation. It really has opened my eyes to a world that I thought was all smoke and mirrors. Who needs a university to learn business and marketing when you have The Foundation offering such unique insights at a fraction of the cost!
I’m low on cash but have decided to apply for The Foundation since I had a look at so many courses that didn’t give me what I wanted, and your community setup sounds so engaging. I hope I get accepted
I’d also love a copy of those case studies, emails, pdf, etc. Share the love!
Dane, this is awesome. It’s so refreshing to have someone be so transparent about their success, challenges, and the future of their business. Definitely changes the way I’ve thought about and approached business like this. More importantly, now it’s time for some action!
I love listening to Dane create this content in our house, not knowing what the F* he’s up to, then watching the finished product and being blown away by the content. Thank you Dane
If your Director of Customer Lov’n (Winnie) could send me that report, that would be awesome!
My business life was dark…but now observing and learning from this video has now switched on a light and I’m beaming with self belief in order to do good for world pain…Dane Maxwell please forward me the report based on the 7 Elements and all the other information that you presented that is made available for download. Thank you.
Got this video link from a friend. Really learnt a lot about the pre-pre launch sequence of customer discovery to product development and marketing sincerely. Thanks Dan!
Watched the first video by Sam Ovens and shared it. Watched the third after Kelvin here posted this up and now I’m going to learn from these videos while doing breakfast. It will be great to learn from the follow-up reports after learning the value of a subscription-based business.
I made a facebook account JUST to get that report man. Some very useful info!
I learned how truly important it is to 1) ask questions 2) of your potential customers! I wont fall into the trap of building a business I want to build but one that customers gain real value from because I ASKED!
Looking forward to that case study
Hey Jordan, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Dane, have to admit never heard of you until now but have to thank Ryan Deiss for the referral. It feels weird that I feel like I’m moving from newbie to minor league marketer just by watching your series of videos. Thanks for showing us all a different way to think and looking forward to the next video already. Oh, lastly would love the link to your email swipe files and expert interviews. My email address is support@funkysocialmedia.com….peace:)
Hey Mark, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Great content. Awesome! my question though. I recently read “think and growth rich”, great book when it comes to changing ones mentality. And it touches on the master mind idea;surrounding yourself with a group of skill people. What other people can you can you add to you master mind group apart from the developers to increase your online business?
Got a question. Can you explain in more detail what defines a layer 3 and 4 idea? I understand layer1 represents all-in-one software but I am a bit fuzzy on what would be classified as layer 3 and 4.
Dane, I don’t believe in coincidence, The Foundation came into my Inbox (without me even searching for a product) only a few days after I made a commitment to myself of building a software based business. As soon as that happened, I knew I was on the right track.
I have a notebook full of notes on all the videoes, and even the tiny nuggets, such as “when is the best day of the week to send business-to-business emails” that keep me hooked to this ocean of information. I am doing cold-emailing, and digging deep to find the pain. All thanks to these video series.
My biggest challenge is on writing copy and I just grabbed great ideas from this video.
Can’t wait for the full transcripts and report!
Hey Mario, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
great insightful stuff about the benefits of education based marketing..plz gimme the gold! (the 7 report).
Hey Mike, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
already got it from you thanks!
Wow sometimes my psychic powers astound even me
This is a great video with lots of useful information, its hard to believe that it is not the standard way to start a business. The standard way being you should ask the client what exactly is the problem and don’t give up until you have probed deep enough to find the underlying issues, so you can build the perfect solution for them.
PS After sharing the video it would be fantastic to get the full package to help me dig deeper into the process.
Thanks very much for all, the awesome videos, keep up the great work guys!
Thanks for sharing this. Great insight about how to change our mindset: the pain comes first, of course, and the 7 elements are absolutely pregnant. I have a question though: are the “six figures” all that matters? It looks like I just need to find a pain, whatever it is, and then solve it. No matter if I’m NOT interested in solving the pain of brokers or real estate agents… Or am I getting this wrong? I still think that I wish to find a way to reconcile the pain I have to solve with my passions and unique skills. In other words, that I’ll create something out of my passions and skills to meet and solve some specific pain. (In fact, the part of the video I like the most is where you say that you are leaving Recruiting Ninja alone because you want to completely focus on The Foundation, because this is where your passion is, and where you think you can add more value…). And when burning pain and passion/skills happily meet, the “figures” will be a consequence… What do you think about this?
Well well well – what do we have here. AH yes now I remember, you my friend just had to show everyone the insides of your business. You just had to remind us that we DON’T need to have an idea, that we DON’T have to be good to start – the suckier you are the better, and that we DON’T have to know any coding. It’s all about interrogating the business owner until they reveal the pain – I think I’ll go with the Jack Bower style of interrogation.
As for this report of yours – here’s what I’ll do for you. When you send me this report I will send you a private webinar titled….
“7 Paint Ball Secrets to Destroying your Enemies Without Pointing Your Gun & Shooting A Single Round”.
At 1 min and 37 sec Jeremy Azoulay of Vision Marseille (SPL#1 ranking team player for 2012) will reveal to you how he destroys his enemies while eating leftovers from the Olive garden, yes he is using his gun to eat the food.
At 5 min and 7 sec Jeremy laughs at every person who just asked him the question “What paintball gun do you use?”
At 9 min and 47 sec Jeremy demonstrates how he can shoot off a paintball into his mouth and catch it with his teeth without causing the paintball to explode – hint, this has nothing to do with his dental plan but rather something he calls “Paint brain”.
And at 97 min and 4 sec Jeremy creates what he calls “Paintball Rage” by using nothing more than a paintball, some yellow snow and metal shavings from his gun – caution, drinking “Paintball Rage” can lead to serious winning and ultimate destruction of opponents.
To get your report send me a PM at http://www.AndrewsFanReviews.com.
Cheers,
Andrew
I’m part of Dane’s organization but I gotta say. As a way to burn someone this is pretty creative. I know I LOL’d.
Do this one too! http://thefoundation.io/limiting-beliefs/
This was incredibly helpful, along with the other posts. I really appreciate the specific approaches and principles you have learned, particularly when it comes to the evolution of your marketing. Thanks!
I recently became obsessed with the idea that building a list of clients is the most important task for any business and is truly the only asset they own because they can use it to rebuild, reinvent, relaunch the business time and time again. The video hammered those points again in my head but what I found interesting and new for me in this video is the way you go about building your software products through a Q&A with the customer to zero down on the real problem that needs to be solved.
Thanks for sharing these insights and the inner working of your business Dane. It is information packed and I will be going through it again to make sure that I get as much out of it as possible. Please email me the reports/case study that you mentioned in the video.
Hey Prasanna, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
My head is spinning with ideas and possibilities, so I have nothing funny to say. Can you please send me the report? Also, when will you be choosing the participants for The Foundation? PS. Can’t believe you’re giving this information away for free, but I’m so glad you are!
Hey Elaine, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Very thorough stuff. I like the transparency in the video and the “How To’s” you go through. Full of solid information and especially like the progression you showed in your copy/emails.
Really enjoyed the video and appreciate your transparency Dane!
A great reminder that finding a laser focused target market and working to clearly identify their pain points is essential to success. AND that it doesn’t take a huge list to produce the kind of monthly income you want.
I’d love a copy of the 7 elements report. Thanks! I’ve learned a lot from this series of videos and look forward to the next one.
Hey Ashley, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
your style has completely changed the way I think about business creation and breakthrough ideas. I’m the type of guy that thinks it’s necessary to have a spectacular invention in order to break out of the hourly routine. once I found out that a 9 year old beat me to the punch with the foot-pedal operated toilet seat/lid opener, I knew it was time for an agonizing reappraisal of the whole scene. I’ve got the failure part down (see: michael jordan), now send me the case study so I can get moving, brother.
Hey Jonathan, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
done sir. thanks!
Just finished the video – the page was open all week, but worth the wait to watch (and I may even watch it again). So educational – thanks!
A great video.. especially the “Selling Mistakes” stuff. I would love a copy too…
Hey Elazar, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Dane Maxwell, Great video – so glad I found this series about The Foundation.
Would love to see the emails/videos/report.
Biggest takeaway was the 2 simple questions to finding a solution you can offer:
What’s the most important activity in the business (whatever one you want to find a solution for)?
And is there any pain in that activity?
Thanks, Anne
What a great video – I am so glad you found me. I actually have line of site to my first industry. I would love to get the report to make sure I do this right the first time! Thanks.
Thanks for the video’s Dane Maxwell. Totally loving it! It is super very educational and very inspiring. Find the pain and create a solution. I love the fact you’re revealing your processes so clearly and the simplicity of it is genius!
This video was a true eye-opener. Most “gurus” don’t open up this much and avoid giving away stuff, unless its at a cost – you, Dane, on the otherhand are working to empower others! I really appreciate the insight, can’t wait for the next video and for The Foundation to launch. Your webiste and teachings are finding their way all across the world, international buddy!
Awesome video! It’s just the thing I’m looking for.. can’t wait for the next video!
Dane, loved the video man. I’m looking forward to the next foundation recruiting round, hopefully, will include my app. You can truly say now that “no pain, no gain” can literally equate to dollars on an economic level and I think you’ve started a “find-a-solution-to-a-problem” movement. Glad to be part of the revolution!
Truly amazing how my mindset is shifting watching each of these videos. I can’t tell you how many years I’ve spent having a great idea (or so I thought) and then ultimately losing motivation when no one seemed interested. I wasn’t finding the pain! Looking forward to more videos in the future and I feel like I have learned enough to be actionable even if I don’t get into the Foundation! Now if only I had enough cash to buy recruiting ninja, I’d jump on it today!
Dane – Great video full of valuable insights and wise, practical information. I really liked the point you made about how raising prices can mostly be a psychological challenge for the business owner. I also liked the way you expanded functionality to help justify a price increase. Finally, I think your emphasis on finding ways of providing value to business owners makes a lot of sense. Thanks for making this available.
Awesome!
Absolutely amazing video. The 7 key elements helped me the most to realize how wrong I was in the past not thinking about it. Great point to add this problem solving method on any interaction with potential clients.
Great video. I like that you that a lot of the features and built over time and not all at once and the that price increase with that.
So I talked to four people today who are in various businesses and got some great insight. I still need to talk to more folks, and get better at quantifying pain into actual physical amounts, but this first step that I took today really has me excited.
Great video once again Dane.
This is very helpful and so inspiring…feels like anyone can do it.
I’d work 2 hours a day for $10k per month…wish I could afford recruiting ninja .
Great video, Dane! I’ve been plugging in with a group in Indianapolis called Verge from time to time. One of the things that it hosts is the annual Innovation Showcase. As I was taking a look at the businesses this year, there were several times that I was wondering “who’s their market?” and “who’s pain would this solve”? I’m glad to see that there’s someone that not only thinks about these questions, but also makes them part of his core philosophy.
I also thought that the 7 elements section was interesting. I’d definitely have more interest in learning more about those!
Definitely looking forward to the start of The Foundation as well. It’d be great to build a community of ENTRs (entrepreneurs) around this philosophy which I believe is the best perspective that I’ve seen on the idea generation process.
You want me to go bananas, of course I want the case study material. Please send it my way. Gracias!
Hey Alejandro, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Ok
Great stuff as always! Thanks for the information! Off to hustle…..
I sent a bunch of emails yesterday. Got a pretty minimal response…nowhere near as good as what Sam mentioned, but I’m in the game. Just interviewed my first potential customer a few minutes ago (what a rush!). Funny thing is that he talked about the same problem someone else mentioned in their super-long reply to my first email. Dane, Sam, and company, looking forward to learning more on the “inside”.
I love that video! It shows how you did to get your product idea directly from the customer. It’s amazing! I wish you did those videos far earlier so I could have began my business while being in college. I’m now graduated and I start my business now using your videos and interviews.
I hope the next video’s going to be as good as this one if not better :p.
William Andrew Joseph Arnold · East Tennessee School of Preaching and Missions. I want to say… the best thing about this video is the transparent. It is awesome to have someone so open in teaching and not hiding behind your wealth as a secret. What I also love about your others videos… and podcasts…. (on other websites) is the books and a videos you lead me too. Jay Abraham is awesome. Gary Halbert is awesome. The book rich dad poor day… clears me mind when it comes to what is possible. You have opened so many doors. If I get in the foundation or not, It really doesn’t matter… my life is forever changed. You have opened a door for me that can never be closed. You have help so many people through me just because you decided to be a teacher. Thank you Dane. You changed my mindset and its forever growing. I will be able to help others now with my mind set and later with my money I make.
There is hope in the biz world. William Andrew Joseph Arnold.
p.s. Would you like me to make a website where it has all the links to where you have spoke and made videos else where online? It will only cost people 10 bucks a month to stay updated on what your doing? not bad compared to the money they can make by the value you give. How do I know people will want it and even pay for it… cause I am fan and I would. =)
Wait, you already know how to do that?
also I would love a report on this video.
Hey William, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Awesome video Dane Maxwell. I’ve learned a lot from this video but the one thing I learned the most is the it is 100% your responsibility to change your mindset into the direction of FREEDOM and nobody will do it for you.
I would love to get a copy of the transcript man. My email is paz@pazaricha.com.
Thanks! Paz.
Hey Paz, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Done!
Hi Dane, Before I finished the video, I had already got on the phone to a business owner that I knew and found the pain they feel in their industry, powerful experience.. You have provided so much actionable steps to take, Thanks for providing such great ethical information marketing to us. In the world of make money on the internet, I totally appreciate it.
Dane, your genuine nature really shines through in your message. Very very inspiring, in fact, I do feel like I am a huge giant step closer to my goal of getting away from the brick and mortar grind! Would love copies of the reports, swipe files, etc. Thanks alot!
Hey Jeff, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Hi Dane Maxwell. Awesome video. Many products like this sell for 97$. Thanks very much! I’d like to check out the 7 Elements Report.
Thanks for taking the initiative!
Just went through your videos for the second time and took a ton of notes. I really appreciate how you break down ideas, it helps a ton in simplifying the process!
I’ve had quite a few aha moments during your videos and there are many gems to take out of them, but attuning with your amazing mindset almost surpasses everything else!
I love how you approach the process by having very clear ideas, being transparent and honest, and breaking through fears by taking smart action.
Thanks so much Dane Maxwell!
Killer video, probably the most important thing I learn is cutting everything else out and FOCUSING!
Totally bro, I just started deleting domains, crappy affiliate websites that weren’t going anywhere and anything else that was just sitting on my mind but not doing anything but getting stressed out about it, def not worth it.
There is a great interview with Darren Hardy of Success Magazine and how he learned from some of the masters (Warren Buffett etc.) on how to be extremely successful but saying no to everything that wasn’t their focus, that’s it, can’t find the link but you get the idea.
Saying that I definitely want to see the email swipes and see where the magic is.
Again, awesome video. I will do anything to get into the foundation, literally anything, got a challenge for me? I’ll do it, thanks Dean, you the man.
Dan
Great Video Dane. I’ve been watching all your interviews around the net. If I could support my family, while joining the foundation, I’d do it in a heartbeat. Hey, I can still take your concepts and run with them. Thanks for the inspiration. I love the email examples. Good stuff.
I’d love to check out the free report and other information. Cheers.
Hey Michael, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Absolutely!
Good stuff man! Finding pain and then using software and marketing that can be scaled to grow…
Dane, Great video. All of the ideas are great and from experience but one of them has always resonated with me when I first heard in your Mixergy interview, which is somewhat like this- Will the customer continue to do what ever my software does, even if my software was not there. This is the concept of “Must Have Problem”. I like this and it is absolutely true. I would appreciate if I can have the reports mentioned in the interview. Thanks.
Hey Khush, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Wish I would have done more of this sort of sharing early on in the last company I built. Back then, we were way to busy trying to look bigger than we were. I like this approach a lot better. I think that a lot of time we feel like pulling back the curtain will diffuse the magic, but ultimately that is pretty silly. I’d also like to second a lot of comments below and say how refreshing it is to approach things from the standpoint of addressing some truly painful issues. I’ve become really disillusioned with with a lot of the stuff popping up on TC and still getting funded in the Valley… Way too much “X is Instagram of Y with a little bit of Pinterest mixed in”;-) An army of scrappy problem solvers who are profitable out of the gate sounds like a lot better approach to turning things around on a meta level than each of blowing through a few million in seed funding with only a hand full left standing in the end. Of course there is always a time and place for capital leverage, but it seems like starting with a real problem rather than a slick elevator pitch is a turn for the better… Great stuff!
Let’s just put all the links on one web page? Right time, right place, super easy solution that wowed the room.. It’s having a solution based mindset that allowed you to pickup on the pain and come up with an obvious fix to a problem they really didn’t know they had..cool beans! Funny how we can make one small change and it redirects our life along a different path..
Deon – I beat you to the punch and already sent an email for the transcripts! FB Spam filters need not be involved here!
Thank you Zack I like people like you who take initiative. Kudos.
Dane, Great video, great content and would like to learn more. Please email a copy of the reports and transcripts you mentioned.
Thanks TM
Hey Tom, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Will do
Great video. I like the focus on makingsure you are solving a problem, then marketing the heck out of it. I’d like to geta copy of the 7 criteria report!
Hey, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Dane you’ve definitely found my pain! Thanks for providing a solution.
Great information. I need to study the internet marketing side more to understand how to tackle that part of the equation.
Dane Maxwell I have a deal for you. Front me the Recruiting Ninja company and I will pay you back over five years. One way you can ensure you will receive your money is to give me access to the case reports/ transcripts so I can become more effective.
What do you think? I see it as a win / win.
NICE I’m addicted the the book you spoke about by Chet Homes, looking forward to checking out the 7 elements!
Zannee video dude! Hook us up with some info. Thanks!
I tell you themore and more I hear from you I want to pack my bags and camp out in your backyard. Please send me the case information. If you cant get through to FB send it to g_frye73@yahoo.com.
Hey Dane, Another great video, I think you’re one of the few marketers that have truly stripped back the hood to show us your back-end and the actually processes you use.
I really can’t wait for the next video! My mind is already racing, with what could be possible. I’ve started watching and reading material from Jay Abraham, and it’s had a profound affect on my mindset and my vision for the future.
Thanks!
Excellent insights for anyone wanting to grow with software based solutions and add predictable cash flow stream!
Dane does it AGAIN!,
Saw Dane for the first time on Mixergy. He struck a chord with me and now my focus has been on marketing better by speaking directly to those with solvable problems.
Keep up the good work Dane.
Dane Maxwell or anyone else – how do you get “3 or 4 levels deep” when interviewing potential customers? Has anyone worked this out?
Shared on facebook and would appreciate the report.
Hey Nick, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Getting ideas by calling the top brokers and modeling after them was genius. Learning a ton here. Gonna start taking notes as I watch. Sometimes it’s better on paper. Thanks again
Bad-ass, explains everything thoroughly. Can’t wait for the next one!
Fantastic job Dane.
I have to write on more thing. I just got the swipe file… I am still in awe of how much valuable content you are giving us for free.
THANK YOU!
Hi Dane, Again great video. I am looking forward to hearing more. Not very many people would go into the transparency as you did – exciting to see how the products get started and evolve over time.
Fantastic video.
But where’s the transcript?
Shared on Facebook.
Now… I need that report / transcript.
Tell you what – You give me that report and I’ll give you the magical ability to grow taller, better looking and to make more money than you can dream of. You will *instantly* grow a few inches… you will be instantly more handsome and you will make a billion dollars… in the next NINETY days.
But that’s not ALL!
If you fail to grow taller and more handsome, and if you fail to make more than a billion dollars… I’ll refund your PDF transcript TWICE… That’s right – a 200% report-back no-questions-asked bulletproof guarantee.
That’s no risk to you!
So act now, and become taller, better looking and richer today
Ain’t that an offer?
I need that report. And those emails. I’ve written ‘em down, after pausing the screen, but to have a full PDF would be even better.
So if you want to grow taller, become more handsome and make billions, send me that report now.
Hey John, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
I’d like my billions in small change please
Done and done! (coins included)
Great Video Dane. You woke me up and made me realize that my approach was wrong. I was making the classic mistake of not speaking with customers in fact I now realize that the thing that scared me the most is speaking with customers.
Well I’m going to do a 180 and start speaking with at least to customers a day. I’m also going to let my customers provide product ides. Thanks a bunch Dane. Please send me the report at lowken1@gmail.com.
Hey Kenneth could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Hope I’m not too late! I learned that being curious and asking questions can open up a whole world of possibilities. I’m quite shy but after watching your videos I want to ask all the questions! Great video
And I would love a copy of the transcripts.
Tried sending via fb but spam filters prevent me from sending it. Please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Great case studies… ‘the problem’ aspect was the key takeaway for me – it is so easy to get distracted by bright shiny objects!
Can’t wait for The Three Pillars! Always focusing on the pain allows us to serve customers better which leads to success!
Posted to facebook. I’d love to get the resources you mentioned. Now, let’s see, what did I learn? Best thing was probably the realization that it doesn’t take a lot of people to make decent money. The key is in finding the pain for a specific kind of person and then solving that pain. Great video!
Well, you’ve done it again! Your Zanee approach to creating an open and entertaining care center for aspiring software tycoons and clearly demonstrates your mad ninja skills that keep your pipeline full of leads! (whew, that was hard!)
All kidding aside, your vids have been engaging AND packed full of info!
Please send me the care package and keep the info rollin!
These videos are unfairly packed with awesome stuff. I kept pausing it every couple minutes and rewinding it all the time to write down useful bits. (btw thanks for the pain finding questions, I’m going to be using those).
If you send me that case study, I’m going to tear into it like a fat kid into a sunday. Not a crumb missed. Especially since I’m learning copywriting & just starting email marketing via chillhookahs.com.
My email is eddy.e.raza@gmail.com if it doesn’t work via facebook
Hey Eddy, could you do me a favour and please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Definitely. Thank’s Deon
I have found with this & other media from Dane, that I record the lists & questions. Then I take stuff from other business leaders both in digital space & other industries and look at similarities and differances.
The idea of finding the pain has come up in at least 4 differant indstries this month.
Please send me all you offered in the video & anything else you want to.
i never recieved the email …. should I start hunting spam folders & such, or what?
Pain + Solution = Freedom > Success. Got it! Please send me the case study.
I found the way you structured your product as a checklist with expanding details and a video compelling. It’s cool that you make them follow the steps to get to the next steps. I’d also love the report.
won’t buy your company Dane, going for full automation! Thanks for the inside view.
Thanks Dane Maxwell. Posted it all up on Facebook to my network of 2,228 friends! I am just now starting to learn the value of lead gen, etc and it was awesome to see another example of its power in business. I am digging your use of educational marketing and I know the Foundation is going to be the event of a lifetime for so many people!
Hey– I just updated my privacy settings on Facebook. Let me know if that worked at all! I will email that as well!
I’m on a mission now to be a problem solver! We have the tools, the resources, and the opportunity to make a difference- let’s not waste it!
Dane, this is just amazing stuff. Thank you for being so transparent and sharing the details of your success. I keep watching these videos, and the mixergy interviews, over and over trying to digest all the details. I’m excited to go through the report as well.
Thanks again for the content. I’m looking forward to seeing what else you provide.
I have a question? Can I pay you for this content. IT is so good, and is exactly what I need to hear. I have honestly received more value in the past 3 videos than I did in my entire $46k MBA program…
“You can be awful and stuff will still work IF you’re taking action under the right direction.” I freaking LOVE this video!
Dane kills it once again. He may soon have to change his title to Hit man.
Dane (The Hitman) Maxwell? I’ll suggest it to him
So I’ve had an amazing, life changing 2 weeks since I started digesting this information.
First let me tell you where I was just a few weeks ago.
I had absolutely no money. My bank account was negative, and continuing to grow in a negative direction since I had no funds to add to it. Plus I had more bills on the way, and not even enough money to get buy a decent meal.
I had been racking my brain on what I could pawn to get a few bucks, and had decided that I would sell my laptop so that I could get by. I was checking around on my favorite blogs one last time to see if I could find any bit of inspiration/direction to get me some money fast, that’s when I went to smartpassiveincome.com, and stumbled on Pat Flynn’s interview with Dane Maxwell.
It was like a light bulb had just exploded in my head!
All I had to do was find the pain, and figure out a way to solve it.
Armed with this knowledge, and the threat of impending doom if I didn’t “crack the code” to making money right now, I went straight to the mall before going to the pawn shop.
I was hungry, tired, and scared, but I mustered every ounce of courage that I had and started talking to people who run those little kiosks in the mall.
The first guy I went to was selling ipad cases.
“Hey man,” I said, trying to pretend that I was Mr Maxwell himself, “Is business good?”
“Could be better…” he answered barely looking at me. I was loosing him almost immediately, so I hit him with the big Foundation questions…
“I was just wondering, I see that you are a good business person, and I’m doing some research on the effectiveness of kiosks in malls…so uhm… what’s the most important thing that you do in your business?”
He looked at me annoyed and frustrated wondering why I was wasting his time, but I stood still and just smiled.
“Well, it’s selling these cases to customers!”
I felt like such an idiot, but I pressed on…” what else?”
I was sure he would brush me off at any second, but he didn’t, he just kept answering my questions half heartedly until I stumbled on his pain.
Then all of a sudden, his whole demeanor changed. His body slumped a little more, and his voice lowered.
I won’t tell you exactly what he told me, but what I will tell you is that what he did tell me was absolute gold, and now I’m on the path to providing a solution to his pain that he thought would never change.
As soon as I offered the solution, he looked at me differently. First with disbelief which slowly started to morf into hope, and then genuine affection.
A 2 second conversation turned into an hour long conversation. Then he then did the craziest thing that I have ever experienced in my life.
He wrote me a check for $500 right then and there as a down payment on a product that doesn’t even exist yet!
Holy Sh$%!
And even better, he is going to introduce me to a huge network of his acquaintances that also own kiosks in various malls across the states.
I have no idea how I will build this software, but I just want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
I have watched, re watched, and re watched each and every interview and article that I could find on you, and I feel that your teaching has literally changed my life.
Thanks again. You have saved me… and my laptop… now it’s time to deliver.
Alright Dane, I’m a fan bro! This video is really good and has stirred a lot of questions in me, mainly about how to automate as much of this as possible, like the email marketing and such.
I’d really love to get a copy of the report. Thanks! Looking forward to the next video!
Surprising to think there is still more to come. Unbelievable how much you’ve already shared!
Great resource – I feel like I am a huge giant step closer to my goal of getting away from the brick and mortar grind! Would love copies of the reports, swipe files, etc. Thanks!
Don’t just sell a product, but Give it value before expecting anything in return. Universal truth =). This applies to any business in any market. I’d love to study the content you sent out to your list. Thanks Dane!
Thanks Dane! Two buyers come to mind for RN. Let’s chat! 805-624-4739
Email me at dane@thefoundation.io
haha I posted this onto facebook even before you said this should be shared to receive the report. This is educational as well as inspiration, Dane. thank you…
i think the idea extraction process is such an amazing and different approach as opposed to trying to come up with an idea without actually talking directly with people inside a particular business to fully understand what they believe will be valuable to them.
anyways, I look forward to checking out that REPORT!
thanks for doing what you Dane Maxwell, teugot
The 7 Elements Report, the swipe files, and the interviews… holy value adder. I love the marketing twist you are bringing to the PLF and I am excited to listen to the questions you asked in the interviews. Looking forward to learning more about the questions. Thanks for sharing so openly.
Two words: Entrepreneur Enlightenment.
This is trully awesome stuff Dane! Thanks for taking the time to really go out of your way to teach your stuff.. What struck me the most is what you said about marketing being the determining factor on how much you can charge! And even seeing how you approach your marketing for “the foundation” is Genius and I’m learning alot from it! Is there more info about this educational marketing approach you were talking about? And yes please can I have a copy of the case study
Thanks Deon! Sent it through..
Dane is the real deal bro.
Thanks Dane Maxwell! So much great and ‘right now’ applicable information. Definitely interested in the materials you mentioned, please send. They would be greatly appreciated.
Hmm.. you said something about funny… I can try.. no guarantees though…
There once was a man named Dane, who wanted to travel to Spain. He set out to make some money, ended up on beaches so sunny, by solving a real estate broker’s pain.
It was a lot funnier in my head…. promise.
Thanks for the Behind the Scenes look. I like that process and concept.
I learnt that in order to escape the tyranny of my day job, I’m going to have to be subservient and post this comment pleading for a copy of the report! How ironic hehe.
In all seriousness though, what I’m liking most about this approach so far is that you’re solving problems that are actually causing people pain, not trying to flog some product that may or may not even be useful to the market. I love the thought that someone’s life could be made easier by a product I could one day produce.
Chet Holmes’ ‘The Ultimate Sales Machine’ is badass and so is this video. Cred to Dane Maxwell!
Thank you @[21310593:2048:Jenn Saunders]
Awesome video Dane , I really think that transparency and honesty is key in all the aspects of life specially business, also fixing a pain instead of not doing so at all with a product is basic command sense.
People are really blinded with the idea of making money and totally ignore the fact that is not how many customers you can get or how many products you can sale (not saying this is not important , this idea could be secondary to your main goal with is fixing a pain), but how many people your helping solved that one problem and help change lives.
Is human nature to help others , why not doing so with a product.
Thank you for the video , cant wait for the next one.
P.S. interested on the 7 elements, emails, and interviews.
Outstanding video! The Foundation reeks of Common Sense & Sound Judgement.
I keep hearing Clubber Lang (Mr. T) from Rocky III:
Interviewer: What’s your prediction for the fight? Clubber Lang: My prediction? Interviewer: Yes, your prediction. [Clubber looks into camera]. Clubber Lang: Pain!
Be Passionate About The Pain!
Just to add I shared you on my facebook. Regards Sean
Hi Dane Please could I have your 7 elements report togther with your swipe file emails and links to the interviews – it will truelly be appreciated – what I learnt from your vidoes so far is that if you set your mind right and you apply yourself to the outcome of solving problems – you will be on the road to greatness. Regards Sean
Dane Maxwell Great inspiring video. I am an entrepreneur who relocated to the Philippines to make businesses like this succeed. I am very interested in learning more so I can grow my companies. Keep these coming..they are awesome!
Again, fantastic video!
The most impactful point for me was the two questions to ask a business (what is your key activity and is there an associated pain with that). Simply because it seems obvious, but it isn’t. It’s a quick and focused way to get to the heart of what matters to a business and whether there is a profitable business opportunity for yourself.
I am officially requesting the report, emails and transcripts.
I am very much looking forward to the next video.
Deon Don, Thanks for getting back to me. I replied via email. Let me know if you need anything else!
Innovative approach to biz building.
This share just got me a step farther in The Foundation sales funnel! You know you have a good product when people are dying to finally hear how much they have to pay. (ps Dane, I’d definitely appreciate the files).
I’ve been watching this whole series of videos and learning a lot about better ways to start and grow a business. Could come in handy in a few months .
Like you, I was scam recently into spending 10k enrolling into a course that teaches nothing useful. I was upset but from there I was grateful that I didn’t give up and do more research into internet business and I was very lucky that I manage to come to The Foundation. With just 3 video, you manage to teach me what the so call guru can not. I feel really stupid to fall for their sale pitch but at least I learned Spreading your message to all my friends is very important and I going to make it my mission to do so. That said, now back to business and start applying what I learn from you so far, thanks heap.
One underlying theme I picked up on from this video–make it about your customer. Even when posting design jobs, you made the copy about them, not you, and had much better results. Awesome. I’d like a copy of the report!
I sat through the video at ease because I realized that you are so committed to helping entrepreneurs that even if I don’t get accepted into the Foundation, I have and will receive so much value.
“Will your customer do X, even without your software?” is a great eye-opening question.
Would love to get the copy and transcripts you mentioned.
Thanks for value you are giving Dane… it is priceless.
Thanks Deon.
Dane! I simply did not know a $500k business was possible for myself…until I today.
Give me the report, and I’ll give you a report of how I’m doing (also, me joining the Foundation would be awesome!).
Great content Dane…looking forward to future posts and of course hope to get those reports. The learning doesn’t stop!
Great work, as usual, Dane! Keep ‘em coming!
This video expanded my perspective and summoned a plan of attack for my consulting service… Dane Maxwell I appreciate you sharing this content, you, my friend, are making the World a better place. I look forward to being a Foundation member soon.
I’d like a copy of the information. Great video, the education lead gen part literally made me laugh at the simplicity/genius of it.
This is an awesome video. The transparency is a great case study in its self.
Dane, This was great stuff! It’s really powerful to see that it’s possible to build a reoccuring machine with your marketing engine. I have spent a great deal of time building prospecting emails, voicemails and a ‘drip system’ for an individual do call on.
Your ability to simplify this down and create 7 keys to a successful software business is amazing. Thank you for sharing your insights here.
I would love a copy of this and the emails / transcripts you mentioned!
Dane! My family has been taken by hostage by ninjas and the only ransom they will accept is your report! Seriously though, it’s amazing what you are doing. Opening up your success and attempting to bring us all along for the ride is remarkable. Tremendous video man, thanks.
Wow, that is a sickening amount of free content. I’m working on notes now. Gonna have to watch a few times to extract everything I want to (which is good!)
Also – Dane you mentioned Chet Holmes… I first got introduced to him years ago. My first ever sales job was working directly for him. Guy was a visionary. I was sad to see him pass.
And finally… I CAN HAS LINK???
YES, YOU CAN HASZ CHEEZEBURGER I mean link. Tried sending via fb but spam filters prevent me from sending it. Please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Very Good focusing on solving a problem and using email market is one of the best ways to start and grow a business.
Absolutely incredibly powerful video shows what is possible when using the Freeline principle to its fullest
“what are the most important parts of your business? where are the pain points?” Love this quote. Would love to get the files and videos.
As always, this video is incredibly insightful and really puts the power of action into the entrepreneur’s hands. In that sense, I gained the most from the 7 elements of a successful software product which regardless of industry or product type, can be applied to make sure my offering is highly valuable to the customer. I would love the email scripts and report so I can continue my study of effective copywriting and marketing systems and provide the world with beneficial products instead of sneaky, ‘get rich in 5 minutes’ IM products!
Again Dane great insight. Love the transparency. Looking forward to next week. By the way, Sam is a great guy. I have been in conversations with him and he truly is a great example to have for the foundation.
I love the idea of finding a problem worth solving with asking for the number one activity in a business and the pain associated with it. I also like the 7 elements for a lucrative software product. But can you please explain point number 5 more in detail? what are the layers of a software products when 3 or 4 is a niche and 1 is an all-in-one solution, what is layer 2 for example? thanks and keep up the good work!
Very pragmatic video Dane Maxwell. A lot of useful and actionable content. You are so right, Mindset is critical. Without the mindset no matter how useful the content, it will not get applied! Thanks for being so transparent with your numbers and your process.
Dane Maxwell,
Awesome stuff man. Just effing great. I love the fact you’re revealing your processes so clearly…it’s like looking through glass.
However, I have so many questions about the follow ups with industry targets after the initial email. I’d love to get in contact with anyone about their methodology…and that’s why I’d love me some reports and interview transcripts.
I’m a giant sponge. I keep waiting to see more videos. MOAR.
Great video…love the behind the scenes look.
Would love to see those reports. Loved the story early on about building the first product with 123.00 — perhaps even cooler was the checklist that was put in place to help the process become easier for brokers.
This is awesome. Your words are helping people. Your mind set is being grasped. I know I will Grow from what you have told me. You have help me break down barrier That my parents have installed in me for years. I was basically told I can;t be nothing more then a factory work (or as lest implied). I now have hope. That there is a way to be free from the burden of bills and being in fear. (thank you for saying you have read the book rich dad and poor dad. It is helping me change my mindset) This video is a great to start the path to creating investment and values that make me money so I can help people in my passion without being a financial burden to others.
Your message, your hope, and your desire to be truthful is changing lives. Thank you
I want to help people. make money. and the help more people from my passion. for free.
I like that plan. =)
Please send me the nifty report.
Stay strong and keep growing and teaching. your passion shines.
Your friend and support. Will Arnold
I’m sorry you feel that way all I wanted you to do is live your dreams. And all you wanted to do is stay in your room and play games.
Ok, so what I’ve learned: Keeping in touch with the customer base it vital. It’s just like any relationship where you have to be willing to spend time with a person to let them know that you’re their friend and you want to help them. In the end, it’s not about money. It’s about helping others.
Now for the comment to get the 7 questions case study:
Hey Dane, I just met you, And this is crazy, But this is clever, So case study, maybe? ;P
P.S. It’s a good idea to watch this video twice. You might grasp even more the second time around.
I tried thinking of something to go with the end of the song but imagination fails me. Anywhoo…
Thanks for the reply, Deon. Hope I didn’t put that song in your head for the rest of the day.
that was an intense video…. time to apply everything…oh and yeah I dare you to give me the case study
done
Exciting stuff, Dane. Thanks for the in-depth behind-the-scenes look at how you built your first software products – looking forward to the resources!
The concept of when the pain comes if the customer stops buying my product is crucial for my business (life insurance). If the only “payoff” is at death, retention is going to plummet. I need to grow and re-emphasize the living benefits.
Hi Dane, Loved the video. Why not call it “How to get an MBA within 40 minutes watching this video from your sofa”. Great job & thanks a lot.
Great stuff once again! Thanks Dane. Just need the report and the other goodies now and I’m set to go!
Hey Dane, another insightful video. I’m quietly planning my coup to escape my cubicle life. It’s a good life that pays well and reasonably interesting most of the time. But I’ve always had the itch to be my own boss. Your software biz concept is the freshest, most logical, scalable solution. I need your case study to Power Up to the next level.
Okay Dane. I’ve watched this twice through now. I absolutely get it, this is stunning material. There is so much information in this, and so much more to be learned here!
Learning about how to get the developer to deliver in another one of your videos, that was stellar stuff. I love the 7 elements. They are absolutely key to both seeing if you’ve found the pain, and seeing if your product helps solve the pain. Very comprehensive. Thanks a ton!
PS. I’d appreciate the e-mail Mr Customer Lovin’ Guy/Girl.
Haha Mr. Customer should probably be a guy and indeed I am.
As opposed to Ms. Customer Lovin’

Love your stuff Dane. Can’t wait for the Foundation to launch!
great video, looking forward to the 3 pillars.
Thanks for the great insight into your businesses, Dane. Really enjoyed the video. Keep them coming! Alan Bews – C’mon bud, sign-up!
How Would You Feel If You Had Gotten Taken For $69 Dollars…….
Well that’s how I feel today because I paid $69 bucks for a course elsewhere that after THREE hours taught me less then Dane Maxwell taught me in 40 minutes.
Dane is the most open, honest guy in the business education market I have ever come across and I’ve spent thousands of dollars on this stuff over the last 6 years or so.
If you are the kind of person that wants to own a 4 Hour Work Week style muse you need to perk up and listen to what Dane has to say because after watching the last three videos and Sam Ovens case study I am convinced he is not only the real deal but he is the best thing to happen to entrepreneurial education since Tim Ferriss.
Watch that video NOW!
P.S. After you watch the video be sure to share it to get all the goodies. P.P.S. To Dane’s Head of Customer Lovin’ Please pass on the goodies to me too.
Erick I’d Love to.
Awesome video Dane! Your genuine nature really shines through in your message.
What you’ve given in these videos is valuable enough – and I do have to say that I’d love to check out the reports you mentioned in the video.
Keep up the hustle.
Can’t wait to try these templates with my list!
Thanks for the video. I liked the “7 elements” concept! Please send me the report, emails, and case study.
I feel like all the stuff you say in your videos is in my head, but it’s all jumbled and non-concrete. You articulate these ideas so clearly and make it seem easy. Great job!
The biggest hurdle to earning what you’re worth is not skill acquisition or being lucky. It’s getting in the right mindset. It’s NOT easy to undo all the preconceptions in our minds about work and wealth. But, it can be done.
Alright I’m drinking the lemonade. Brilliant material.
Great video . You are talking to us, for us, about us, and make us realize, ” I have to think from the customer’s point of view. It is about them, not me!”
Dane, again, thank you for several “AH HA!” moments.
If you don’t send me the report, that’s alright. I feel like I should be paying for this video I just watched. This customer needs no luvin’, I learn enough from this to change some steps in my hustle already.
That report will only make me more deadly. You don’t want that responsibility, do you?
We like people with ninja skillz!
Dane Maxwell – I think I was in that meeting “all those” years ago! In fact perhaps it was my idea? haha…. you’d better send me that report
One Report coming right up! Tried sending via fb but spam filters prevent me from sending it. Please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Thanks for sharing Dane! It’s mind over matter – you’ve provided the matter, I just need the mind!
Loved the video, looking forward to the report.
Hey Dane thankyou for the video,
usually people on the internet would charge hundreds of dollars for this kind of information and your doing it for free. I’m broke and I can’t begin to tell youo how much value this offers to people trying to become entrepreneurs with a life. I liked how you give us the strategy and than the tactics (how you found your first website, and then your first design.) It’s crazy that this all started from a nervous kid in a realtor meeting. I never knew telling somebody you have their solution would make them go crazy, which is crazy because that’s all that matters.
-Thankyou P.S. Can I please receive the case study?
Great content thanks! – mindset was the biggest thing I learnt and the most important.
Please send me your transcripts/swipe files to plagiarize. I am going to start a software company.
I shared the link on Facebook and am salivating in anticipation to get the scripts and emails you have used.
Great info and video guys. I have already started cold emailing and calling markets and industries I have no idea about to find the pain, and these videos and reports will help me get unstuck if I run into any issues. P.S. I got a fever and the only prescription is more Foundation lol. Those reports would be awesome too!
Thanks Dane Maxwell,
This video is great. I have watched all of your interviews on Mixergy, Smart Passive Income and Miss Krizia. Love all the information on idea extractions solving pain. This is a key element in Sales, where you listen to your customer find the pain, assess the need and close the sale.
I have already though of about four different industries to approach to see if I can assess the need for a certain software product. Building my contact list right now.
I’m excited about the new iteration of Foundation. Thanks again.
Killed it, Great info, Great Inspiration once again! Fingers crossed, come on foundation, let me in, haha!
Transparency is good!
it’s time to sharp the marketing razors! cant wait to see those emails and the report.
As an optimist, can you be brutally honest with point 7, and not underestimate people’s apathy? So I guess this is a lesson in codifying pragmatism. Great stuff. Dane turned me into a paying Mixergy customer with his copy-write course – it is woven into almost all I write.
Hey Dane, I just met you. And this is crazy, But this is clever, So case study, maybe? ;P
just give me the g**d*** case study!
We aim to please! Tried sending via fb but spam filters prevent me from sending it. Please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
All right! I’ll do it immediately! Thanks man!
Very interesting video… Question, why sell a business with positive monthly revenue coming in? why not hire a CEO as you did with paperless pipeline and forget about it? Thanks again Dane for great content and looking forward on starting October 1st at the Foundation, as I’ve been unofficially chosen.. Oh and Please send those files!
This is a pretty good question, why not hire a CEO Dane? You’d still get a healthy cut of the income, and you wouldn’t have to do anything! I imagine if you did this, and put ALL the work on someone else, you could keep income, as well as keep it off your own plate. Or is there something we’re missing here?
Maybe you could be that CEO? Anywhoo reports stuff below.
Interesting, cant wait for next video
Love the funny pictures throughout the video. With your ideas, one has no more excuses…
Hi,
I really like the video and I am looking to get all the content you have shown. I really need it
I was waiting for some secret, massive tactics in the marketing part…there it comes and I find out that you generate just a few leads/day, which result in 20k/month, all done by seo+adwords. You should have seen my face…(mix of relief+embarrassment+ motivation+charm lol). I hope the report (it would be great if you could send me one) won’t cause any irreversible facial changes ;].
yes I would love all the down home cook’n of this delicious knowledge you’ve baked you sir.
Thanks for the video, looking forward to the report!
Dane, how did you get your clients? What specific ways were you able to so quickly grow your list?
“Freedom comes down to MINDSET.” Another brilliant and mind-opening video. You guys keep killing it! Thinking about whether or not customers would do what my software does, if my software didn’t exist is a huge takeaway that I hadn’t given a lot of thought to.
How bad do I want/NEED the 7 elements, the swipe file of all your emails, and links to the interviews? I’ll answer that question with a question. How much do you NOT want me stand in my boxers out on your lawn while singing and dancing to “Bye Bye Bye” with a bullhorn for 24 straight hours? If you care about your sanity and that of your neighbors, you’ll send me the info ASAP. There are certain things you can’t unsee.
I can’t wait for the next video!
Watch out Dane, it looks like he’s got the location to do this…
Personally I would LOVE to see you on Dane’s lawn but sadly we can’t all get what we wish for…
I like that everything about your business was superficially awful at first but your customers really didn’t care as long as you took their pain away.
The best part for me is the 2 questions you ask. I’m doing very similar interviewing process designed by Eban Pagan for info products. Very useful! Thank you, Dane.
Great insight into how easy everything is to set up. I’d like to receive the 7 elements report.
Dane…the research you do to discover where to focus. 1. What is the most important activity in your business and 2. Do you have any pain associated with that activity. Very interesting way to look at it! I’d like to check out your report…custumaluvin hook it up!
Hook up Delivered. Tried sending via fb but spam filters prevent me from sending it. Please email dane@thefoundation.io with the subject heading. “7 Elements Please!” and I will send it to you from there.
Hey Dane Maxwell,
Great video. I loved the transparency with the numbers. Having watched all the videos you’ve put out so far along with your interviews on Mixergy, Daily Success Deals and others I’m excited about the way you go about product development.
It’s kind of funny actually, because recently I’ve had a few friends come to me with product ideas, and as soon as they start talking I stop them and ask that simple question: “What pain are you solving?”
Usually their brilliant product idea stops…. But when you say it out loud “What pain are you solving?” it seems SO obvious that a product would need to do this. It’s almost ridiculous we’ve missed this simple step for so long.
Excited about the start of The Foundation.
That’s what I’ve been in shock about for a while now. It DOES seem ridiculously obvious that a product would need to do this! I think back on every great idea I’ve had, and only 1 single product did this, and it wasn’t even that big of a pain. My goodness!
Ya man, exactly. It’s pretty nuts. But I’m stoked to learn more from The Foundation.
Cam, great point. So true!
Thanks Byron
Thanks Dane Maxwell for teaching.
Also the comments section isn’t showing up in chrome but works fine in Safari. I dony’t know if it is just me but thought I would mention it. Mac os x 10.8.1.
Thanks great video. Looking forward to next week. Would love a copy of the transcript.
Dane,
Thanks again for the video. It was very educational, and even inspiring.
I’m sending out about a hundred emails a day to an audience, just asking for phone conversations. How do I know if I’m doing this “correctly”, or if my approach is so bad, I should try a different tactic? Am I just bothering people? Is the problem in my head? How do I measure my efforts?
Also, I have lots of questions about the conversations themselves, which I’ve been recording. I would love to be able to talk to other people, but right now I’m the only person I know who is trying this (talking, asking for pain, etc).
James: I do believe there was discussion, either in Sam Ovens’ interview or one of @[16916986:2048:Dane]s, where they talk about a mailing software that shows your click-through and read-mail rate.. I can’t remember the name just now though… It might have been ReadNotify? Dane, can you help me out, I’m lost.
This software would let you know how you’re doing as far as how many folks have read it, how many folks have clicked any links, and you can adjust fire from there.
Hope that was helpful!
The application is ToutApp, Matthew. It works pretty well. I can get people to open the email. I can even get about 2% to respond and agree to an interview. Ok, so NOW what? What skills should I develop to find the pain? When is it enough? When do I stop? How do I move from idea extraction to selling the thing? I’m completely new to this, btw. This is not easy or comfortable for me, but I’m doing it anyways.
Also, Matthew, thank you!
I read a book that was recommended on @[16916986:2048:Dane Maxwell]‘s interview on the SPI podcast called SPIN Selling. Alot of the answers you are looking on how to sell and find the pain are in that book. Also Dane released a recording of an idea extraction he had with a pool cleaner. I learned a lot from that too. Picking up the phone and talking to people isn’t easy for me either, I’m still working on that, llol. But you’ll always improve and get better, but the only way to do that is to start and apply the concepts you learn a little bit at a time. If you try to apply everything you learn in one shot, it won’t come out smoothly and the way you want it. Hope that helps.
Steven, thank you. I also just happened to read SPIN selling. I also transcribed Dane’s side of the conversation. And you’re right, looking back on it, I can see patterns in surfacing problems, implied needs, etc. I think you are also correct with respect to applying learning one concept at a time. It’s difficult to not want to eat the whole elephant at once, so to speak.
Hi James – Here’s what I’d suggest: You’re already developing the skills to identify pain. Just keep calling. You dig until you hit something so excruciating that your prospect is begging you to fix it by the end of the conversation. You’ll know when it’s enough, and if you have a doubt, you probably haven’t gone deep enough. Here’s the list of questions from Sam Oven’s case study (in case you don’t have them):
● Can you walk me through a typical day for you? ● What’s the most painful task you have day-to-day? ● What takes up most of your time? ● What are you currently doing that frustrates you? ● What tasks are you doing that you believe can be made easier or less tedious?
Something that’s been helpful for me is to re-phrase questions if you think you’re getting traction. If they tell you that the most painful thing they do in a day is “X”, then you stop there and get more information. Ex. “Can you define X in terms of your business?” or “What exactly is the impact of X over time?” or “How is X affecting your life outside of work?” The key is to find something that registers on an emotional level, because that’s where your potential customer wants to spend their money.
Try to quantify this in terms of opportunity cost or revenue loss. This will also help you find the correct price point as well. If you’ve gotten to this point, the sale is already made. You just have to find a way to validate it with more customers and then build the solution. I’m sure @[16916986:2048:Dane Maxwell] will chime in if I got anything wrong! =)
Hope that helps. Good hunting.
Copy, paste into a note. Good summary of the teaching, Arun!
Arun, thanks!
I’ll try to keep this in mind in my next call.
How many people (that show desire for the pain to end) before you think the solution can be sold to more than 1 person? Or is that also a process of talking, etc?
This is one of those things that seems to be tougher to gauge. The reason this is variable (in my opinion) is because it’s based in part on your abilities as a marketer / salesperson. Your success isn’t JUST about demand, it’s also about how well you present the solution. Dane talks about this a little in the ‘Secret Language of Millionaires’ video. I think these kinds of details are what they are going to cover in the Foundation sessions in October.
I suspect the criteria for a successful market changes for each person over time. An All-Star Marketer like @[16916986:2048:Dane Maxwell] is looking for a sizable opportunity before he moves to development. In his Mixergy interview, I believe he said he needed 200 qualified prospects from his squeeze pages before he even considered charging something. On the other hand, Sam Ovens started with less than a dozen people who helped him develop the product, and then began selling the concept.
For the time being, I would define success for a market by having enough paying customers to fund the creation of the product AND cover any ongoing operational costs. That way you’ve eliminated the risk of losing any of your own money up front. You’re starting with a break even, so even if you only make a few hundred dollars a month, it’s all profit. Your first business may not make millions, but every cent will be in the black.
Best of luck.
Again, I’m in your debt. BTW, if anyone is interested in hearing the calls I have done, contact me and I’ll share. You can learn from my mistakes!
Dane, the more I watch your videos the more I realize I have the skills to do this. Copywriting for “What’s In It For Me” is the key. It seem that I stress on the stuff I feel like are hard ie the development. Keep it coming!
Thanks so much for sharing Dane! Great video… I’ve shared on Facebook and looking forward to the 7 elements report!
Got it! Thank you
Great stuff Dane! Thanks for sharing, looking forward to the full report.
Yet another great video. Dane I have to say I don’t want the report with the 7 elements, and swipe files………… No…seriously I don’t want it……… DANE I NEED IT! Cant wait for the next video.

Hello “Head of Customer Lovin”… Exciting stuff. As far as learning… I found what Dane Maxwell shared about the income differences between Cold calling, Emailing offers & Education based marketing pretty interesting. I shared it on facebook. Would love to see the report, emails and links to the webinars. Thanks again!

You would think so but we are not that brilliant we just mess up a lot. It works now though.
